Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Who We Are
The University of Utah Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site prides ourself on providing free, accurate, tax preparation services for students and community members alike. The University of Utah VITA site is a collaborative effort between staff, students, community partners, and our amazing volunteers. Our volunteers are highly trained to prepare a wide variety of tax returns, and love providing excellent service. In addition to our University of Utah site, we also host clinics at our Rose Park location in order to serve community members. Our goal is to connect tax payers to credits and tax education that may not have previously been available. We cannot wait to work with you.
Not only do we provide services for taxpayers, we also provide ample opportunities for student involvement. We provide valuable, community-centered volunteer experience for those that want to uplift our community. Not only are our volunteers able to make an impact on taxpayers, they are also able to gain durable skills in tax preparation, financial education, and more. Our flagship tax preparation internship has seen 11 successful interns since the inauguarl year. These interns have gone on to do amazing things at the University of Utah and beyond. Additionally, we partner with departments on campus to provide course credit. This year, 74 accounting students were able to complete their VITA requirements and receive credit.
Who We Serve
University of Utah Students
The primary goal of the University of Utah VITA clinic is to serve our student population at our on-campus filing site. Our volunteers are prepared to handle a range of resident tax filing situations. Our clinics run from late January to the tax filing deadline of April 15th. We love serving our campus community, and we cannot wait to work with you.
Filing For University of Utah Students
International Students
In addition to filing tax returns for resident students, we are also able to offer free tax filing services for international students. Over half of our returns are for this student population, and we love serving them. Our specialized volunteers are prepared to file returns for students from across the globe.

Community Members
We are so happy to provide tax filing opportunities for our community members as well as our students. At our Rose Park location, we are able to file returns for those that are not current students at the University of Utah. At this location, you can expect the same amazing experience with our knowledgeable volunteers.
