How to Save for the Holidays
We all know how expensive the holidays can be. Here are a few tips on how to save the most this holiday season.
1. Make a Budget
Making a budget is a great way to set a limit on how much you are going to spend this holiday season. If you decide how much you are going to spend beforehand, you are most likely to spend less.
2. Order Online
Ordering gifts online is a great way to save a little bit of money. Most things you see in-store can be found online for a cheaper price. However, if you are thinking of ordering gifts online, make sure you order it in advance because some things may take a while to ship.
3. Make a gift
A lot of the time making a gift is a lot cheaper than going out and purchasing one. Taking the time to make a gift may mean a lot more to the person receiving it as well!
4. Keep a close eye on sales
Most stores do a lot of sales during the holiday season. Watching the mail and looking for advertisements online can be a great way to save some extra money.
5. Cooking/ Baking
Baking a loaf of bread or baking cookies for someone is a great gift that a lot of people overlook. Baking and cooking something can be very inexpensive and can always be a great thing to give to other families.
6. Use cash
A lot of times it is hard to keep track your spending when using credit and debit cards. Putting aside a dedicated amount of cash for gifts is a great way to not go over your spending limit.
7. Buy in bulk
Buying a gift that you can give to a lot of your friends is an amazing way to save. For example, last year I gave a lot of my friends a book I really liked. I purchased multiple copies in bulk and it saved me some extra cash.
8. Price match
Most stores will price match what you want to buy if you can get a better deal online. Before you make an in-store purchase, look it up online to see if there is a cheaper price the store will match.
I hope these gift-giving tips are helpful as you move forward in your holiday shopping!
